Google Chrome app for Android has some hidden tricks up its sleeve that simply enhance the browsing experience. You are just required to do a bit more digging to find them. And where to start from? Chrome Flags!


What Are Chrome Flags?

Google Chrome is crammed with various experimental features that are hidden from numerous people, and Chrome Flags are one of them.

Chrome Flags are nothing but hidden experimental settings in Android that allow users to modulate browser. Chrome Flags comprises a set of features and settings that are deeply buried into Chrome App for tinkerers and developers.


With that said, let’s get started and find some interesting Chrome hidden settings:

5 Hidden Chrome Android Settings

Before you start tinkering inside the Google Chrome app, you first need to learn how to enable Chrome Flags. Launch Chrome browser app on your Android Phone > Head towards Address Bar > Type “chrome://flags” (without inverted commas) and hit Enter. A list of Chrome Flags with certain warnings that the features aren’t stable will be displayed on your screen.

1. Move the Address Bar to the Foot of the Screen

Want to change the default position of your Address Bar? With the secret chrome settings, you can do so in a few simple clicks. Follow the steps carefully:

Step 1- Open Chrome Flags on your browser app. A list of all the experiment features will appear.


Step 2- Go to the “three-dots” icon at top-right of the screen. Click on ‘Find in page’ option.



Step 3- Now in the search bar that emerges, type ‘Chrome Home’.

Step 4- In the following list, you will see ‘Chrome Home’ option highlighted in red. Tap on it and choose ‘Enabled’ option.


Step 5- Once enabled, you will see a Relaunch Now button at the bottom of the screen. Click the button to reflect the desired changes.

Step 6- After you’ve relaunched the chrome browser app you will observe that the Address Bar is now displayed on the foot of the screen.


2. Increase Browsing Speed

Looking for ways to enhance browsing speed? Here comes one that will improve your page loads by about 5%. To do so, carry out the following steps:

Step 1- Open Chrome Flags on your browser app, by typing “chrome://flags” in the Address bar.

Step 2- A list of all the experiment features will appear, you have to find “Experimental QUIC protocol” option.

Step 3- Tap on it and choose “Enabled”.

Step 4- Close your browser and launch it again you will notice faster page loading. Also, if you use YouTube via QUIC enabled you will see up to 30% fewer buffers.



3. Google Chrome Password Generator

4. Instant Search Results

In case you want your Browser to prompt results even before you hit Enter, then this secret chrome setting is for you. With this option enabled you will start seeing answers to your queries as you type them. To turn on this chrome Android setting read the steps below:

Step 1- Open ‘Chrome Flags’ on your browser app.

Step 2- Go to the “three-dots” icon at top-right of the screen. Click on ‘Find in page’ option.

Step 3- Now in the search bar that appears, type ‘answers’.

Step 4- When you see Answers option in the list, click it to Enable it.

Step 5-  Once you enable the option, you will see a “Relaunch Now” button at the bottom of the screen. Click it to get the desired changes.


5. Access File Manager on Chrome Android

Manage your internal storage through Chrome Browser app. How? This feature would help!

Step 1- Launch your Chrome Browser app on an Android device.

Step 2- Head towards the Address Bar and type “file:////sdcard/” and hit Enter.

Step 3- That’s it! You will be surprised to see all your phone storage’s data on chrome browser screen.

Step 4- Now just select the files or folder you want to access.



Conclusion

Though Chrome Flags open lots of features & settings for both desktop and mobile browser, users should remember the fact that these are just experimental features, therefore tinkering with them might compromise your device’s security. If any time you observe your Chrome browser app behaving abnormally, straight head towards App settings and clear data for Chrome app. The action will simply reset to its earlier state.

QUIC protocol need the server to actually use it as far as I know. Enable it in Chrome settings doesn't bring much if anything. So far, only few Google services known to actually use it, I think it's Gmail one of them.
It's called Experiment with good reason, the world need to use it first.
