What's Cool About This Chipset?
Snapdragon 400 tier processors bring high-value features to mid-tier devices, designed to support all-day battery life, fast LTE connectivity, enhanced camera, advanced graphics, and more. And when it comes to the 450 variant, it is the first 400 series chipset with 14nm technology. It offers a longer battery life than it's predecessors and it supports dual image signal processing, which means it can support a dual camera setup. A better gaming performance with upgraded GPU. 25% better in all aspects when compared with other 400 tier chipset series. And it also comes with an upgraded Modem.

How is Snapdragon 450 different from Snapdragon 625?
This SOC can be compared with the amazing Snapdragon 625, both are almost the same when compared to their specs. Both the chipsets have 8-cores and also are home to the same Adreno 506 GPU. These chipsets are built in the 64-bit architecture and have the same FinFET 14nm technology. The only difference is that the 450 is clocked at 1.8GHz whereas the more advanced version that is the 625 is clocked at a higher 2.0GHz.

Comparison with its direct competitors, How better is it?
This Chipset powers the new Redmi 5 which is certain to rock the world of mid-range smartphones. With its direct competitors being Samsung's J7 Nxt and Lenovo's Moto G5s; Redmi 5 is able to beat others with a clean sheet. Thanks to Snapdragon 450, which clearly outrages J7 Nxt's Exynos 7870 Octa-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz with 14nm technology and Moto G5s' Snapdragon 430 an older brother of the 450 which is also an Octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz with 28nm Technology. Whereas the Snapdragon 450 which powers the #compactpowerhouse Redmi 5 is an Octa-core processor clocked at a higher speed of 1.8GHz with 14nm technology. So, that tells the story.

What about the benchmark scores?
Benchmarking has become a new way to test your phone's CPU which includes the testing of all major hardware available on your device. Here also the Snapdragon 450 performs the best. The Exynos 7870 in Samsung's J7 Nxt gets a score of 41777 and the Snapdragon 430 in Lenovo's Moto G5s scores 45934. Whereas the Snapdragon 450 gets a higher score of 69628. Which is up to 22% better than it's competitors.

Better than its Predecessor?
The Redmi 4 is powered by the Snapdragon 435 chipset an Octa-core processor Clocked at 1.4GHz with 28nm Technology. So you got what you were looking for, the answer? Yes, Snapdragon 450 is a far better competitor. The Redmi 5 is surely an upgrade from Redmi 4.

What's Left...? The Summing Up...
The Snapdragon 450 chipset is the best of its class, giving a great power efficiency and a great thermal performance, which means, it's faster, it's cooler and it's awesome. This CPU has a great control over the heating issue, so no overheating. The power of the powerhouse...
