[Q&A] Why Mi 5 is only Android 7.0 based ?

why Mi 5 is Android 7.0 based where as Redmi 5A is Android 7.1 based?
Mi 5 is flagship phone and it should get every higher version of Android, where as company is treating like Mi 5 is no longer needed by them.

As far as i know only the phone which runs android 7.1 are upgradable to nougat.
Then this means that Xiaomi have made plans not to push Oreo update for Mi 5.

Being your smartphone consumer/user , i have right to know this.

Mi 5 users , don't you think tbis is totally wrong?

As a Mi5 user I felt I was using a flagship phone. It has been 1 year since I bought my Mi5 and now I am dissapointed. Mi5 belongs to Xiaomi's flagship lineup but they doesn't show that kind of support to this device, though it has high price. Is it too much for expecting oreo update for a flagship device which is still best in its class at this price range while the lower price and specs phones are getting oreo update? Xiaomi, please ans this.

Please, vote, share comment and like this post as much as possible if yor are a Mi5 user and want latest oreo update for your device from xiaomi.

since its launching there was much hype created and declare it a Flagship Phone not only by MI but its so called community managers as well but now I feel created when abu 10k phones are getting assurances for Android O but MI5 is still running on Android 7. Not even a 7.1 is updated. Such a waste of time, money and trust in the name of Flagship Phone by MI.

Of course! Mi5 was the flagship phone of the year 2016 so it should atleast get an Android 8.0 Oreo update. Xiaomi should take this into consideration and provide the Mi5 an update to Android 8.0 Oreo as soon as possible. I don't know what's wrong with Xiaomi, they should open their eyes and see that Mi5 was their previous flagship device and millions of people worldwide are using it and just like us they all are still stuck on Android 7.0 Nougat, which is very pathetic in my frank opinion.
I would say that if Xiaomi wants to build up reputation on every market then they should start providing timely software updates just like Apple does and that's why Apple always keeps the 1st position reserved for them. For example:- Just recall if you remember like in case of iPhone 5s which was released more than 4years back with iOS 7 still gets updates and recently I updated my iPhone 5s to iOS 11.2.0.
So, this clearly shows that how Apple is dedicated to their customer demands and really works for it.
So, Xiaomi as I've already said that if you want to gain reputation and public interest then you must provide timely software updates.
