Xiaomi has officially launched its latest ultra-affordable budget smartphone Redmi 5A in China today. Redmi 5A is successor to the Redmi 4A and retains much of its predecessor's hardware and specification. |
Xiaomi Redmi 5A is equipped with a 5-inch display with a HD (720x1280 pixels) display with a pixel density of 296ppi. and is powered by 1.4 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC. The phone runs on latest MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1. In terms of storage the device will be available with 2GB of RAM and 16 GB internal storage capacity with expandable storage of up to 12GB. The smartphone carries a hybrid SIM slot and like the Redmi 4A, Redmi 5A also skips out on a fingerprint sensor.
Redmi 5A is powered by the large-capacity of 3,000 mAh battery while the Xiaomi has assures that in standby mode the smartphone will last up to 8 days. Redmi 5A sports a metal-like matte texture and comes with little design tweaks like rounded corners and a lighter build metal and stays amazingly slim and light at a mere 137.g. The device has a 13MP primary camera with f2.2 aperture that is capable of full HD video recording and a 5MP front facing camera for perfect selfies. As for connectivity features, the Xiaomi Redmi 5A comes with 4G, WiFi with WiFi Direct, Bluetooth 4.1, and GPS support, IR blaster and FM radio.
Xiaomi Redmi 5A has been priced at CNY 599 (Roughly Rs. 6,000) and the handset will be available for pre-orders starting Monday in China. It will be available via the company's official site as well as other popular e-commerce sites in China. Unfortunately there is no announcmet for global launch.
