Hi Mi fans !
The Xiaomi Book S 12,4” was released a few weeks ago and as a Mi Influencer I was lucky to use it in my daily workflow for a while now so let me tell you a bit more about it !
For those of you who may be confused about what this device is, it’s a 2-in-1 computer running Windows 11. It’s basically a mix between a tablet and a computer and it is 8.95 mm thick for a weight of 720g.
You can use it as a tablet when removing the keyboard and use touch gestures to navigate easily between social media, watch videos or listen to music.
When you need to be productive, you can just plug the keyboard in and start writing on it and use the touchpad as a regular computer.
The tablet is sold with a 65W Gan charger by default. You can then purchase a keyboard or a stylus to complete the set.
The keyboard also has a touchpad and comes with a protective cover that also works as a stand.
The stylus is the same one as the Xiaomi Pad 5 which is nice if you already own this tablet like I do.
For the screen, it is 12.4" with a WQHD+ resolution, a 16:10 format, the color range covers 100% of the DCI-P3 standard and the brightness goes up to 500 nits which allows you to use it even if there is a lot of light around you.
Beware of the reflection which could interfere in these situations. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and the most interesting point would be to have a large screen to watch content compared to a more classic 11" tablet for example.
The device is equipped with the 2nd generation Snapdragon 8cx processor, 8GB of ram and 256GB of storage. The processor uses an ARM architecture which is different from more traditional processors such as the Intel Core i5 or i7 which are found more often and this one is supposed to be less energy-consuming. The only downside is that some software are not compatible with the ARM processors.
For the system it works with Windows 11 which comes in version S and which you can exit in order to install what you want.
This one works well for all that is classic navigation in tablet format, it responds well to touch too and it has no particular slowdown in regular usage.
We take advantage of the computer side when we attach the keyboard and we can navigate in the same way as on a more classic device, have several windows and above all we have a video output to use it on an external screen which is not available often available on more classic tablets
It is also better suited for productivity than on Android or quite simply if you want to make a PowerPoint presentation or this kind of thing which could take advantage of the compact side that you can bring everywhere with you.
So this was a quick presentation, but if you want to know more, make sure to watch my review video !
