Xiaomi is going to announce the new Xiaomi 12S series at a conference on July 4. The source cited that the new series of devices will feature an eco-friendly leather material at the back, which is bound to be comfortable to the touch and majorly resistant to dirt. This is the first time Xiaomi has developed a smartphone with environment-friendly silicone leather, which feels comfortable and textured.

The material prolongs the device’s durability by a considerable margin, as it is easy to clean and is resistant to peels and cuts. Additionally, the company customized the texture of the calfskin head layer, making the feel of the device more skin-friendly and offering a better grip. This comes at a time when the smartphone industry is leaning more towards glass-back smartphones that are extremely slippery and tough to keep neat and clean.

The top variant is said to be sporting the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, instead of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, this upgrade has been made citing the delay in the launch of the device and the introduction of the new cutting-edge Snapdragon SoC. The flagship device might also feature a rectangular camera configuration with the Leica branding. The front of the device is likely to be almost bezel-less and will also have a punch-hole camera.
