Just translating, in English, one of my previous threads meant for the French Community. As you can imagine, the theme back was Black And White Pics.

So How is Life across the Atlantic, in the New World for far distant cousins?No Surprises here, it's as for everyone :D

For this thread, even if Chicago is a colorful city, it was quite an exercise to represent it (just a little piece of it) that way.
But I like going out of my comfort zone and try new stuff.

View of the Chicago River with the lake in Lake Michigan in the back. Tourist boats, canoe, and green color for St Patrick Day. The most prominent buildings are in this area. It’s simply because of the view over the city, over the river, and the lake. Therefore, we have the Riverwalk, a pedestrian area all along with the possibility of boarding (logical) and bars, restaurants, and something to sit down to enjoy during the summer.

The Chicago Board of Trade Building is a 44-story, 604-foot (184 m) Art Deco skyscraper located in the Chicago Loop, standing at the foot of the LaSalle Street canyon. Built in 1930 for the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT), it has served as the primary trading venue of the CBOT and later the CME Group, formed in 2007 by the merger of the CBOT and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. In 2012, the CME Group sold the CBOT Building to a consortium of real estate investors, including GlenStar Properties LLC and USAA Real Estate Company.
Trading operations have been used as scenes in movies such as Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and the streetscape in the LaSalle Street canyon is used in the movies The Untouchables, Road to Perdition, and Transformers: Dark of the Moon. In Batman Begins, the Board of Trade Building represents the headquarters of Wayne Enterprises, but in the 2008 sequel, The Dark Knight, Wayne Enterprises was represented by the Richard J. Daley Center. The building itself appears in The Dark Knight and will appear in the next The Batman Movie.

Cloud Gate is a public sculpture by Indian-born British artist Sir Anish Kapoor, that is the centerpiece of AT&T Plaza at Millennium Park in the Loop community area of Chicago, Illinois. The sculpture and AT&T Plaza are located on top of Park Grill, between the Chase Promenade and McCormick Tribune Plaza & Ice Rink. Constructed between 2004 and 2006, the sculpture is nicknamed The Bean because of its shape, a name Kapoor initially disliked, but later grew fond of. Made up of 168 stainless steel plates welded together, its highly polished exterior has no visible seams. It measures 33 by 66 by 42 feet (10 by 20 by 13 m), and weighs 110 short tons (100 t; 98 long tons).

The Chicago "L" is a rapid transit system that serves the city of Chicago and seven of its surrounding suburbs. The system is operated by the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). On an average weekday, 759,866 passengers ride the "L", making it the second-busiest rapid transit system in the United States, behind the New York City Subway.

The Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal, historically known as the Chicago Drainage Canal, is a 28-mile-long (45 km) canal system that connects the Chicago River to the Des Plaines River. It reverses the direction of the Main Stem and the South Branch of the Chicago River, which now flows out of Lake Michigan rather than into it. The related Calumet-Saganashkee Channel does the same for the Calumet River a short distance to the south, joining the Chicago canal about halfway along its route to the Des Plaines. The two provide the only navigation for ships between the Great Lakes Waterway and the Mississippi River system.

The Museum of Science and Industry (MSI) is a science museum located in Chicago, Illinois, in Jackson Park, in the Hyde Park neighborhood between Lake Michigan and The University of Chicago. It is housed in the former Palace of Fine Arts from the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. Initially endowed by Julius Rosenwald, the Sears, Roebuck and Company president and philanthropist, it was supported by the Commercial Club of Chicago and opened in 1933 during the Century of Progress Exposition. Among the museum's exhibits are a full-size replica coal mine, German submarine U-505 captured during World War II, a 3,500-square-foot (330 m2) model railroad, the command module of Apollo 8, and the first diesel-powered streamlined stainless-steel passenger train. Behind it, you can find a Japanese Garden, and it has also been referred to as the Garden of the Phoenix or the Osaka Garden. This garden symbolizes the mutual respect and friendship that Japan and the United States initiated more than 120 years ago.

This shot below was taken south of Chicago in the Museum Campus. It is a 57-acre museum park that sits near Lake Michigan and surrounds three of the city's most notable museums, all dedicated to the natural sciences: the Adler Planetarium; the Shedd Aquarium; and the Field Museum of Natural History. It is also known for holding the Soldier Field football stadium and the Lakeside Center of the McCormick Place.

This shot was taken at the Ping Tom Memorial Park, a urban public part park of 17.24-acre (6.98 ha) in Chicago's Chinatown neighborhood, in South Side, Chicago. It is part of the Chicago Park District (CPD).

The Chicago Dragon Boat Race for Literacy, started in 1999, is a philanthropic event held annually at Ping Tom Memorial Park. Every summer, teams participate in a dragon boat race tournament organized by the Chicago Chinatown Chamber of Commerce, along the Chicago River while music, food and entertainment is provided for spectators
From here you can see the Skyline of Chicago, and the fog obviously this night, but also the St. Charles Air Line Bridge. Built as part of the St. Charles Air Line Railroad by the American Bridge Company in 1919, the bridge originally had a span of 260 feet (79 m).
The bridge owes its name to the town of St. Charles in Illinois , located on the outskirts of Chicago. This city served as a crossing point on the old Chicago, St. Charles and Mississippi Air Line Railroad which connected the cities of Chicago (at the eastern end of the state) and Savanna (at western end of Illinois) via St. Charles, west of the Mississippi River.
