Hi Mi Fans,
I am back with a debate series, which will be published every Wednesday, the topic for this week is "Snapdragon 625 Vs MediaTek Helio X23" after the launch of one of the smartphones recently many people started the discussion about these two powerful chipsets. I Personally prefer Snapdragon Chipsets than cheap MediaTek Chipsets.
Now let's start,
Here is the quick summary of both chipsets,
The MediaTek Helio X23 employs Tri-cluster, deca-core (4 x 1.4GHz A53 + 4 x 1.8GHz A53, 2 x 2.3GHz A72) 64-bit CPU clocked at 2.3GHz whereas Snapdragon 625 is a high power efficient chip with octa-core (8 x 2.0GHz Cortex-A53 cores) CPU based on 14nm architecture. On another side, Helio X23 uses 20nm process The GPU on HelioX23 is Mali-T880 MP4 and Adreno 506 on SD625.
Helio X23 wins in case of Performance as it has 2 2.3Ghz A72 Cores, which will make much difference
SD 625 is based on 14nm Architecture while x23 used 20nm, No doubt here SD 625 is the winner here, power efficient cores is much needed in daily usage.
We can't compare Mali-T880 MP4 with Adreno 506, it's somewhat like comparing a 24 story building with a small hut. Many games lack optimisation in case of Mali GPU and Adreno is the winner here.
Conclusion: SD 625 is the winner here, x23's A72 cores are more powerful but 14nm architecture and constant power makes SD 625 the winner.More power is not needed for a normal user while daily usage and we are not always playing high-end games I guess. Adreno GPU is notable merit of Snapdragon Chipsets.
Both chipsets are using LPDDR3 RAM with eMMC 5.1 storage; where it is limited to max. 4GB on Helio X23 and SD625 has no limit.
SD 625 is winner here
In the camera section, both have capabilities to bear dual camera setup, up to 32MP on X23 and Up to 24 MP on SD625.
Helio X23 is winner here
Quick Charge Support
When it comes to Quick charge support, both have quick charge support while Quick Charge 3.0 of Qualcomm gives more stable and efficient charging. SD 625 also support parallel charging.
SD 625 is the clear winner here
Helio X23 can bring the resolution up to WQXGA (2560 x 1600), unfortunately, Snapdragon 625 powered devices are restricted to a maximum of Full HD (1920 x 1080).
Helio x23 is the winner here
LTE or 4G Band Support
SD 625 supports more 4G bands and it uses latest and advanced LTE Technology which favors SD 625.
SD 625 is winner here
Helio x23 scored 90,000 to 95,000 while SD 625 scored around 60,000 to 65,000.
Helio x23 is winner here
Both the chipsets have their own pros and cons. The Helio X23 has a powerful CPU which is not the case with Snapdragon 625, but Adreno 506 GPU used on SD625 is a better pick when it comes to graphical performance. All in all, Snapdragon 625 is as strong as X23 with its 14nm Architecture and stable core performance, Helio X23 looks good enough at least on paper, but its a Mediatek Chipset which is just only good in papers compared to mighty Snapdragon Chipset.
Now you have already the basic Idea about the Snapdragon 625 Chipset and MediaTek Helio x23 Chipset, so let us debate about it.
