Redmi Note 7

[Q & A] Question - Can I change my ROM fromglobal to EU without any issues ?

I recently purchased a Note 7 (Lavender) with global ROM. It updated itself to MIUI 12 in August. I am generally happy with the phone and have it doing what I want, My only issue and the reason for my question is that I am constantly receiving messages and notifications in chinese characters which of course mean nothing to me. I am deleting these many times a day. I am wondering if a change to EU ROM would solve this and if so how to go about it. The last thing I want is to create new problems for myself.

You can't without consequences, it is a bit of a faff (and will need to unlock the bootloader). One thing you could do is check what region you are on (in the phone settings, type region in the search box), and see where you are (it might be something like Hong Kong). If so, change it to UK, and see if it helps

Region already set to UK but thanks for the quick response. Guess I'll just have to carry on regardless.

ok, bit of a daft question, but do you know which app is sending the messages? The next time you get a notification, could you do a long press on it, and see the app?
