Hey thanks for replying. It doesn't work. When I clicked on front cam test it opened the second camera(the 5mp rear camera).

If the issue started recently, can you think of any reason why the front cam is acting up?

Any new updates installed? Any bump, drop, twist, squeeze happen to the unit?

Have you tried clearing data on camera app?

Is the issue happening to any other app that uses the front camera?

If you are not sure, option to perform a factory reset is the next step.

Just remember to backup all files before doing it.

If the factory reset does not solve the issue, front camera unit may be experiencing a hardware malfunction, either camera connection is loose or worst broke.

I don't  really know what would cause this other than  cleaning the screen with a bit of isopropyl alcohol. I still have warranty. Is my problem covered by it?

For hardware such as camera module, it will depend on the assessment of the authorized repair center.

One problem is moist getting inside and damaging the sensor. Mostly disconnected connector. Worst broke.

Is there a liquid damage indicator in case the culprit is moisture getting inside and damaging the sensor?

The problem wasn't anything CooCkie had guessed. But rather it is a problem with me not updating to the latest version. Always update, guys.

Thanks for the update... Did not actually got a reply if you already did all the suggested troubleshooting on post #3, and assuming you already did, next step will be a proper diagnostic test from the service center is advised.

Around May 18 when V11.0.6.0.PFGMIXM came out for Redmi Note 7, assuming your unit is Redmi Note 7...

Have a nice day...

Next update... MIUI 12...
