Hello Everyone,
Today I am going to share a guide for rooting Mi Note 10 Using TWRP and Magisk. I rooted my device as I was having some trouble with my Jio Network. I needed to lock a particular Jio band so that my signal does not fluctuate. Before starting, Please read all the steps and take proper backup. If you are not sure about the steps and want to root just for fun, I will advise please don’t root. Let’s start now.

Pre-requisites Before Rooting

  • Backup all your data, Because unlocking the bootloader will delete everything.
  • Unlocked Bootloader, Follow the Guide if Bootloader is locked https://c.mi.com/thread-2262302-1-0.html
  • Download TWRP Recovery image Official (https://dl.twrp.me/tucana/)
  • ADB & Fastboot driver For Windows  (https://gofile.io/?c=RWtQDX)
  • ADB & Fastboot drivers for Linux(Ubuntu)

    • Open Terminal and use this command “sudo apt install android-tools-adb android-tools-fastboot”

  • Magisk Zip file download link : https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk
  • Take a full backup of your phone before rooting. Take Backup of partitions using TWRP and Pictures, Music and other stuff via MTP. It is always better safe than sorry.

Steps to Flash TWRP Using Windows

1. Download the adb zip folder from the above link. Extract it to any location you want.
2. Copy the TWRP Recovery image and Magisk Zip file to the adb folder.
3. Power off your phone and boot in Fastboot Mode by pressing Volume Down Button and Power button.
4. Connect your phone to your PC via USB 2.0

6. Use the following commands in sequence.
  • Fastboot devices
  • Fastboot flash recovery twrp.img (replace twrp.img with original filename)
  • Fastboot boot twrp.img

Your phone will boot in TWRP or you can reboot your phone to TWRP (Press & hold Volume Up + Power button).

       “sudo apt install android-tools-adb android-tools-fastboot”
2. Copy the TWRP Recovery image and Magisk Zip file to any folder (Prefer Desktop)

3. Power off your phone and boot in Fastboot Mode by pressing Volume Down Button and power button.
4. Connect your phone to your PC via USB 2.0
5. Change directory to the folder in which you have copied TWRP, Here I am using the Desktop/Mi Note 10 folder.
6. Use the following commands in sequence in Terminal.
  • Fastboot devices
  • Fastboot flash recovery twrp.img(replace twrp.img with original filename)
  • Fastboot boot twrp.img

Your phone will boot in TWRP or you can reboot your phone to TWRP (Press & hold Volume Up + Power button).

Root Your Phone using Magisk

1. Once you are in TWRP, Copy the Magisk zip from the adb folder into your Phone root directory.
2. Now in TWRP, click on Install and locate the Magisk Zip.

3. Then swipe the slider at the bottom to flash Magisk.

4. After flashing Magisk go to Reboot System to boot the device into the system.
5. You will find a Magisk App installed on your phone.
