2- Xiaomi spent $ 3.6 million to buy a domain name
I have to believe it was some malicious action that forced Xiaomi to spend that much on their domain. I've been able to register domains at $20 and they were for very common terms that I'm sure would be in demand. Domains shouldn't cost this much.
4 only makes me even more confident in maliciousness. Huawei's already disproven the accusations against it countless times and in a very strong way. It literally sent its source code to German authorities, UK authorities and yes also US authorities to see if they could find any of the so called back doors or malicious code they'd accused Huawei of. NONE of them found anything including the US. But that hasn't stopped them from baselessly continuing the same accusations. I've read up on a really awesome Chinese response though and I totally love China's humor in the face of the Trade War: "In the past China's used 4G, 3G, 2G and many other forms of western technology. Our way of life has remained unimpacted by the foreign presence in our technology. Now 5G is a Chinese standard and the west is afraid it will destroy their way of life. Is democracy so fragile?" While I'm not exactly a fan of either political entity I love this quote because it points out the blatant fear mongering so well. It's just so unforgiving.
And the same goes for Xiaomi. There's now stuff against drones because the major brands are Chinese. There's stuff against hoverboards because the major brands are Chinese. The whole 5G thing is because Huawei leads in the technology. (and sadly there were idiots that actually burned down a newly constructed 5G tower claiming that "5G is the cause of the coronavirus spread") But besides the possibility that two Redmi phones had "spyware" on them my favorite moment of bias against Xiaomi was when some idiot tried passing off a video clip of an iPhone 4 exploding as a "Redmi" exploding.
That last one though totally caught me off guard. I would have never guessed that flipping the logo upside down was the word for heart in Chinese. That is just impressive! 10 years. Our Xiaomi's done so much for the world of technology. Can't wait to see what they do in 10 more years!
