[App Review] [MI ART] Eventbrite - Never Miss an Event!

Countless are the events organised everyday. Some of which can be really impacting - if we are present in it that is. Most of the time we are absent not because we choose to but because ignorance chose for us; and it always chooses not to attend. For lack of awareness, we have missed events that could have changed our lives even when they cost not a single penny to get a ticket.

Imagine you had a Google for events, a search engine where you're notified  about nearby events or events organised by your favourite organised by your favourite organisers or events which will be held on one of your leisure weekends, surely that would have been noteworthy.

In that case, worthy of note is Eventbrite, an app that gives you the opportunity to attend any event of your choice by making you aware of the events as well as simplifying getting tickets of them.

App Overview.
Launching the App for the First time welcomes the user with the three phrases "Get up", "Get out", "Get on it!", written in large white fonts on an orange colour background. Following this, the App asks for the user's location with which it recommends nearest events. Users can also specify the kind of events which piques their interest.

The user is faced with the "Home" UI after initial sign-up and location setting process. At the bottom of the App the user can see the home icon color different from other icons indicating the user's current position within the app. Other Icons stationed at the bottom of the App regardless of the user's position include the search or explore Icon, Favourite or Like Icon, tickets icon and the other options Icon.

Let's take a dive into each of these sections to uncover what they hold for users.

Go Home!
The home section is arrived at with the first icon on the bottom left of the App. Within the home section, your current location or selected location is displayed at the top of the Page. To the top right, the notification icon is visible.

Beneath this Orange background home segment are events lined up and categorised in different sections. It begins with the popular events in selected location, with the the most popular event overlapping into the Orange background top of the home section. Following this are events trending in a particular interest like music or food & drink, then free events are added to the queue as well as events from nearby cities.

Eventbrite gives users the opportunity to follow organisers of their favourite events or events within their interests in the "Who to follow" category. Within the home page, Eventbrite gives you a suggestion of Organisers to follow. It also provides tags which users can use to easily find events of interest. The final category - "More Events" - just displays an endless list of events for users to select from.

A user can search for anything in anywhere at anytime with the second Icon below. The first input allows user to specify the time that would be convenient for the outing. Today, tomorrow, weekend, next week, or a precise date.

Users can then specify the Location he would like to attend the event. Eventbrite can determine your current location and use that to suggest nearby events if that's what the user desires or source for events as far as Philadelphia.

Finally the user can select the events of interest. Eventbrite provides a long list of interests including comedy, music, food, DIY, science, politics, sports, tour, religion and so many more. If it sounds good to you, it probably sounds good to Eventbrite too and events of those kind have been categorised for you to easily find.

The user can also easily search for an event by it's name with the search Icon at the top left corner.

Save Your Favourites!
Given that Eventbrite is a big pool of events,  it's best if when a user find an event of interest, the user shelves it. The user can in fact do that with the favourite function. The "heart" Icon allows users to keep favourite events in the favourite section of the App so that it can easily be found on a later date. For those selected events as favourite, the heart Icon colour turns red.

Keep Your Tickets Safe!
After booking a ticket, free or otherwise, a user can easily access these tickets in the ticket section. It directly displays the tickets for upcoming events. Tickets for past events can also be seen by just tapping on the "past" at the top right in the tickets section.

Other Stuffs!
The three vertically aligned dots at the bottom right of the App takes you to  a section of the app where the user can access user's profile, Eventbrite help centre for any ticket issues, followings manager, event manager, settings and Log out.

The User profile picture allows a User to set his/her first and last name as well as a profile picture. The Following manager allows the user see all organisers that has been followed at a glance. The organisers can be directly unfollowed in the within the manager.

Tickets Issues takes the user directly to the Eventbrite help centre where the user can be assisted with Organising an event,  attending events and others. The event manager leads you to playstore to download the app twin which is used to create events and organise ticket sales etcetera.

Events in Eventbrite
Events in Eventbrite are properly documented so that the user gets all the details required to be properly informed if the event. Besides the E-poster, time and venue, Eventbrite also provides the details of the organiser. The user can see also see past and oncoming events by the organiser.

• Users can easily search for events that interests them
• Follow the Organisers of a particular kind of event
• Regardless of your location, it works.

• App auto-rotates even when mobile device auto-rotation is turned off.
• The home section doesn't notify user if it's loading or not.
• Doesn't capture all events yet, being fairly new.

The Eventbrite app is like a search engine for events nearby and faraway. Its users get the opportunity to never miss events that they are interested in or help them decide on which events they would attend with their spare time or plan a nice romantic date. One thing I would recommend is that that it adds cinema section, where users can see different cinema theatres and movie times. This counts as an event to I think. The app is a very useful app and deserves the 4.7/5 rating it has received from over a 100k users.

Now it's your turn to discover popular events and nearby fun!
