Hei MI fans,
Hope to find everyone in good tidings. What do we have today? Well, I finally came to a status qou, that when I started getting reminders of insufficient space on my Mi 9 (8GB + 128GB) and there no option for expansion for storage.
Knowingly I could optimize or elleviate the problem by deleting my photos, documents, videos, music, and apps which I rarely use, but that not my preferred option. Hence my alternative, so I decided to copy my media and files to an external storage. So far, I still see many questionnaires pertaining to OTG and so on. So here I got a chance to give a tip for your confidence in doing it in the future.
In addition, I am using Mi 9 and Redmi Note 8 Pro which is compatible to use OTG, if you are following this tutorial you can check your device whether it has the compliance. To do this, just use USB OTG Checker which will check if your device is compatible with USB OTG (On the Go) technology.

USB OTG Checker
Let's move on. First, you need an OTG Flash Drive, in my case a USB Type-C OTG, forget about using an Type-C adaptor to connect an older micro USB OTG Flash Drive ones, it just would not work. There no need for enabling whatsoever on the Developer Options for OTG to work since we are not debugging anything.
Next, you launch the native File manager, and follow thru along with the pictorial. For my case, I am going to transfer my Adobe Photoshop Mix folder to my USB Type-C OTG Flash Drive.
For convenient sake, tap and hold for the expanded bubble menu, choose Search.
As for me I typed in the keyword "Ado" as we are going to transfer the Adobe Photoshop Mix projects to the OTG Flash Drive.
Select the folder from the search result and then tap the More icon down below, for more options then choose Copy.
Next, Select folder to the folder of your choice, in this case we select the USB storage and proceed to Paste and it will begin to transfer. How fast the transfer depends on your transfer rate of your Micro SD or Flash Drive and the size of the file you are transferring.
Now, you should be able to see the files you transferred on the USB storage, as follows.
Once completed always make a habit of unmounting the USB OTG for safety measures when removing it.
With USB OTG Flash Drive you could transfer data from your device to the flash drive and vice versa easily and quickly. In addition, you could also transfer all the data and files to your computer. That's all for today.
