Hello Mi Fans,
What's up, everyone? Hope, all of you are having a pleasant time on Mi Community. It's been a while since I posted any thread on this platform. Therefore, today I'm up with another intriguing topic: Does Disabling System Animations Save The Battery?

Before beginning with the things, let's get the idea of what System Animations are, first!

System Animations: Definition!
To simply put, System Animations are basically a cool way to make the UI of your Android device stand out; these give a polished look to the apps so that the users can get a higher quality look and feel from the applications. System Animations add visual cues that notify users about what's happening in one specific and running app. These are significantly useful when the UI changes its state such as when you're moving between apps or new content is loading on the screen e.g browsing app.

If you turn off animations, it'll undoubtedly have an impact on the battery and performance of your device; in this state, CPU is free from calculating and rendering those animation effects, so, it'll boost the performance and extend the battery life.

✒ How to disable System Animations?
  • Go to Settings and open About Phone.
  • Tap on MIUI Version 4-5 times. It'll show, ‘You are now a developer’. Now,
  • Open Additional settings and find Developer options. Tap on it.
  • Now, enable Developer options.
  • Scroll down and find Window animation scale. Open it and change to Animation off.

Note: Developer options will automatically turn off if you use Optimize from MIUI Security App during the process.

Note: There are a lot of apps which aren't written well and usually rely on animation duration to perform certain actions. Turning off System Animations will cause those actions to be executed faster than intended and this can lead to undesirable effects.

Now, it's your turn! Does disabling System Animations actually save the battery life? Vote now and tell us in the Comments below!

The short answer is yes. Turning off animations may reduce the workload of the Android phone and, thus, reducing the amount of battery life being drained.
