The sub 10,000 rupee category of phones has been redefined by Xiaomi’s Redmi series. Over multiple generations, the company has focussed on delivering a compelling experience driven by competitive hardware and well optimised software. Xiaomi has a similar goal in mind with the Redmi 4 too. Does it succeed? We find out in our review.
In a market saturated with formulaic Android running devices, the Redmi 4 sits a class apart. Very rarely do we see a particularly good-looking device in the sub Rs. 10,000 segment and this phone delivers.

Redmi 4 Review: Big on everything, small in size
The new Xiaomi Redmi 4 seems all set to replicate the success of the Redmi 3s. It’s no secret that the affordable Redmi 3s smartphone has been a huge success for Xiaomi in India. In fact over the weekend, the company revealed that it sold 4 million Redmi 3s smartphones in nine months. And now, Xiaomi has launched a new device that replaces the Redmi 3s.Today, Xiaomi launched the Redmi 4 in India. Available in three variants, the device is priced at Rs 6,999, Rs 8,999 and Rs 10,999. While all three variants are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 435 SoC, the difference is in the RAM and internal storage. The base variant comes with 2GB of RAM, and 16GB internal storage, the mid variant comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage, while the most expensive variant comes with 4GB of RAM, and 64GB internal storage. Having spent sometime with the Xiaomi Redmi 4 32GB variant

The second entrant in Redmi 4 series wants to be an all rounder and provide a touch of the premium smartphone-ness in the affordable segment Whenever Xiaomi launches a new smartphone, it instantly becomes news. General consumers see their smartphones as a better value-for-money product than equivalent offerings from rival brands like Samsung and Motorola. Xiaomi fans on the other hand look for performance gains from whatever chipset Xiaomi throws at its handsets. The Redmi series has created quite a stir in the Indian smartphone market, selling out within minutes through its flash sales. The Redmi Note series provides the perfect balance of power and battery performance while still keeping the affordable tag.

In August 2016, Xiaomi launched its entry level range of Redmi 3s and Redmi 3s Prime smartphone in India. Both phones received great response from users for their performance, design and features. Today, the company has launched the successor to the Redmi 3s lineup with the Redmi 4 which will be Made in India. The Redmi 4 continues with a 5-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels in an all metal unibody design. Hardware specifications include octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435

Xiaomi's Rs 7,000 Redmi 4 is an iPhone like home-run for the budget segment
By Gizmodo
When you think of a company like Xiaomi, then the most obvious comparison is to a company like Apple. And while the company has done a brilliant job of moving away from being called the "Apple of China" its latest phone invokes and channels Apple's halo product while also over indexing on Xiaomi's philosophy of making products for the masses than the classes. The Redmi 4 is the true successor to the Redmi 3S Prime from last year. Clad in stealthy black colour and a compact 5-inch form, for me there is no phone in the market that channels the feel of the iPhone 7 as well as the Redmi 4 albeit at 10 percent of the price. It is actually quite stupendous that one can get something that doesn't only look and feel like an iPhone but can also provide 95 percent of the creature comforts for just 10 percent of the price. That's the magic of the Redmi 4 which I believe is a home run for the budget smartphone segment in India.
