[Discussion] Mi Purifier 2S issue. 'failed to intialize'

Hi All,

So I'm a (still) happy owner of the Mi Purifier 2S, but recently have some minor issue with it. I have the purifier in the Mi Home App, but when I select it (to change the mode/speed of the purifier, or see more info) I get a popup 'Failed to initialize'. I deleted an re-added the purifier in the app, 'reset the device' by holding the top and button in the back for about 10 seconds. But even after re-adding the device, once I tap on it, i get 'Failed to Initialize' again.

Anyone here with a solution?

No solution, all I can promise is that I'll try and keep an eye out. Keep us in the loop if you find something or it starts working properly again (it could be just a server thing)

what server are you connected to?

ive noticed some issues with devices that aren't supported in certain areas.

if you aren't connected to the Chinese server, try connecting all your devices to that and see if that solves the problem.

Xiaomi have a huge range of devices they are trying to implement around the world, so it might be a case that the device you have isn't supported on the server you are connecting to.

the Chinese server seems to resolve most issues.

have to tried restarting your phone once you've removed the device from the mi home app?

do you have any other devices running the mi home app? tablet etc?

try removing the Air Purifier from all devices the mi home app is installed on.

restart your phone, then try adding the device again.

also maybe a router reset could solve a few issues.

Yeah well did all that... the thing is, I can turn the device on and off perfectly by pressing the on/off button (even via the internet without being on the local network). But I just can't get into the settings of the device (and change speeds) etc...

I have the exact same problem, after updating my iPhone to iOS 12.1.4.
Probably a future update of firmware or software will be needed ...

I’m also having the same problem and iOS 12.1.4. Can’t remember though 100% if started happening only after updating to the latest iOS. But do know its been less than a month since able to control the air purifier as can’t get it to initialise. All other xiaomi products work fine and initialise. It’s just the air purifier 2s
