I recently discovered that the translated name 'Xiaomi' in English is Xiao (Little) Mi (Rice), 'Little rice' which is also known as Millet; a cereal that is eaten. This meaning explains as to why the Xiaomi router and many other products are named Millet in the ROM files.
Rice is a staple food used in many countries across the globe, this may be the reason Xiaomi is named as such; they want their product to also be staple across the globe.
Many people ask "how is Xiaomi pronounced?" Xiaomi is pronounced 'Show Me' with Sho being pronounced as the word 'Shower'.
This name comes from a Buddhist concept signifying that Xiaomi want to start from the little things before aiming for the top.
The ushanka (Lei Feng hat) wearing bunny mascott is named Mitu.
In 2014 Xiaomi held the world record in mobile phone slaes within a single day; they sold a staggering 2.1m.
The Xiaomi 'Mi' logo if turned upside down is a Chinese word “心” which translated to English is 'Heart'
Another important fact is a few of the top people within the Xiaomi organisation are Xooglers (Ex-Google)
