Hey, Mi Fans!

Well, Friends, one of the hottest TV terms used this year is 4K, also called as Ultra HD or UHD. When a new technology hits the market so does a whole lot of conflicting information and it happened with 4K TV as well. There's a lot of misinformation out there about 4K TV, so in this thread, I will try to help you outburst some myth bubbles. We'll talk about some of the most common myths about 4K TV and actual facts about it so let's get started.

Myth:
4K TVs Are Expensive!
Fact:
  • This is the most common myths we have heard. While this statement may have been true just a few years ago, these days 4K TVs are very affordable.
  • 4K TVs are thought to come with a premium price tag because it is new and it is enhanced with state of the art technology. Although that may be true, with TV manufacturers offering their own lineup of 4K TVs, prices have gotten even more competitive.
  • Recently Mi TV 4 has been launched in India which features a 55-inch screen with 4k+HDR with tons of functionality at affordable prices.
  • 4K TV prices today have fallen dramatically in the past year as production matures and more players enter the picture.

Myth:
4K TV is just a fad and not worth of investing money into it.
Fact:
  • If you are looking for better quality images and video, so 4K is the future of broadcasting and entertainment.
  • For instance, 4K TVs can display 4K content from Netflix and other broadcasters, while 4K capable cameras are here to help consumers capture their own exciting 4K content.
  • They come with tons of other features like HDR support, Dolby Audio, a better processor which really enhance your TV viewing experience. You can compare your self the normal LED TV and features of 4K TV such as Mi Tv 4 which enhance the performance at affordable price.

Myth:
There’s no 4K content.
Fact:
  • Streaming providers such as Netflix and Amazon Prime are already offering 4K content as is YouTube. From TV shows and movies, content providers are even producing content on their own. At Netflix, for example, 4K content accounts for about 20 percent of the entire original content catalog.

  • Also, the other broadcasters like ESPN, BBC and many more are pushing hard to produce 4K content. Soon 4K content will reach beyond 4K DVDs.
  • By taking advantage of 4K recording products now, People can record their family and friends in the highest quality available. Plus, 4K future-proofs their content so that the material impressive even in many years to come.

Myth:
8K Is Just Around the Corner, So Skip the 4K TV.
Fact:
  • If you've heard about 8K TVs, and have started thinking that you might as well hold off on getting a 4K TV and wait to buy an 8K set, you're going to be waiting awhile. As we've covered in depth, 8K is still a long ways from being a reality.
  • A few months ago, Japanese Brand Sharp did launch an 8K TV, but do you know what is the price of it? Approx 87 Lakh INR. It was targetted for business customers to create their own 8K content, in reality, consumer 8K content is still some years away.

Myth:
If You have a 4K Video recorded, you need a 4K Tv only to watch it.
Fact:
You certainly don’t need a 4K TV to enjoy your video recorded in 4K resolution. Full HD TVs will convert your 4K recording into Full HD for easy playback.

Myth:
The quality of still frames extracted from the 4K video isn’t very good.
Fact:
  • A 4K still image offers high enough resolution to be used as a double-page spread in a fashion magazine, so that’s more than enough resolution for the average user.
  • The most important thing is that by capturing 30 frames per second, you are more likely to have captured the perfect shot than ever before.

Myth:
HDR is same in all 4K TVs:
Fact:
  • HDR increases the contrast between the brightest whites and the darkest blacks, creating more vibrant colors in between. But even if you have an HDR TV, you'll only see the difference when watching HDR content.

  • But the thing is, there are three types of HDR, the most common being HDR10. The others are Dolby Vision and HDR10+. The difference between HDR10 and the other two is that its brightness levels are set for an entire program, while the other types allow for different settings for each scene.
  • So Different brands of 4K TVs might have different HDR type as well, most commonly used is HDR10.

So, friends, that was it about some common myths about 4K TVs. I hope that some of your misconceptions are solved today regarding this topic. I'll see you soon with one more interesting tech topic. Till then, take care!
