[Q & A] the new Xiaomi Redmi Watch 2 have NFC?

Having NFC and google pay are two really different things. A watch would have to be able to run external apps to run Pay, not just have the hardware, and the new watch runs a proprietary OS, which means it will not be able to. The NFC on that might be used for other things, but always within the limitations of the OS (ie, if redmi has partnerships with the card providers and can code it in)

but can I use Google Pay on the watch?

If it has nfc and allows external apps, you might, but in that case, it doesn't alliw external apps, so no

gonna be honest if the manufacturer invest time to include the NFC function there main function in western countries is for payments. so I guess if the hardware is there the software will be as well at some point. if not from the get go. in an ideal world it should be like that!😀

It's a country by country thing. If you look, as an example, at the NFC version of the band 6, they negotiated agreements with mastercard to be able to ''port'' the card number to use the equivalent of contactless, but even then, some banks refuse to allow the cards to do that. Same with google, as they will only allow it if you can authenticate on the device, which means running the app there
