Ah, just checked, your phone is a Chinese version. So it will have its bootloader unlocked, as the seller will have installed a global ROM on it (as you can't run google apps on a Chinese ROM). And Google pay, and a lot of financial (or security-conscious apps) will simply not run with an unlocked bootloader, nothing you can do (as relocking it would brick your phone, short of reinstalling the original Chinese ROM, which would not allow google)

don't understand anything technical about phone. bootloader and such, all I want is a phone that works out of box, got it off onbuy.com was told it was a global version. but what I can make out. it's a global miui installed on a Chinese model m2011k2c not m2011k2g

Basically if they said it was a Global version, you could get a refund as it is not. If they said it was a global ROM, then it gets dicier

if you still have the exact link to the phone you bought, PM it to me, I'll see if you do have an easy claim with Paypal. As for the judderyness, frankly I'd be wary of the ROM, if a supplier is not above flashing stuff to make a buck selling to people unaware of the process, they might not be past pushing a few dicy apps in there too. And yes, Gpay will not work with an unlocked bootloader, even if you were to use some tricks, they'll just stop working at the next update, it's like playing cats and mice (and it's seriously dangerous to boot)

not sure I understand exact link. I think I've attached a copy of email I received. but not sure

Ok, what I meant was a link to the listing. No need now, a quick browse showed me their site, where they do not give the slightest detail, you could have got anything really from their description. Definitely contact paypal, see what they say.

can't believe the grey market still exists, its not like global devices aren't available to resellers and most have started making people aware up front if they are getting a sealed global model or a Chinese model flashed with global firmware which you cannot use gpay etc on.

sadly some resellers are dicey, and the lure of getting a few extra bucks is too high :(
