[Q&A] Xiaomi Mi 9 or Mi Mix 3?

Greetings,

I was looking to upgrade my current Xiaomi phone to a phone with more compatible USA bands. I'm on T-Mobile and noticed that the Mi 9 I think has 4/6 LTE bands while the Mix 3 has 5/6 bands, not sure how big of a difference that would make.

Is there any reason to buy one over the other as they're both priced similar and seem to both have pros and cons. If anyone has used either or both of these phones and could give their feedback, I'd appreciate it.Xiaomi Mi 9 or Mi Mix 3?

first check the bands supported by your home carrier network..
check processor types and speed
check battery endurance and durability
check which is more recent
check review for each device..
then make a choice

Check comment #1 - it is a good checklist.
I am not sure about the bands available with T-Mobile, so I would suggest you to check with your carrier and see which device is supported more.
As for the devices itself, Mi 9 is the newer one. I own a Mi 9 and it works well. It has even received the latest version of MIUI version, which the Mi MIX 3 is still expecting to receive in coming months. Being a newer device, Mi 9 is supposed to get better software support down the line than Mi MIX 3.
Both are great devices, but if you care about longer software updates during your use period, I would suggest Mi 9. Else, Mi MIX 3 is a great choice.
If you are someone who doesn't change your device so often, then I would also recommend looking for any device from late 2019 or early 2020 as it will get better support during its life.

Cheers! :-)
