Long before the emergence of smartphones and their QWERTY keypads, we relied on number keypads for all of our texting needs and how tedious that was.
I'm referring to this.

The stress of pressing 7 four times, 6 three times and 7 again four times just to spell SOS was enough reason to declare a national emergency.
Then pressing 1 six times or more just to access 1.
Texting was so tedious in those days that writing in abbreviations was our only escape route from the stress.
Having a 'text friend' then meant your fingers are always busy pushing (literally) those buttons and annoying your ears with those clicky sounds and tones.
Nowadays, texting is easier, you can do more than texting th your smartphone like typing out this post like I'm doing, I've written articles of 2000 word with my phone, I don't want to imagine doing same with these little monsters.
But we don't get to forget our days of humble beginnings now, do we?
What memories do you have of these keypads? Share with us.
