Mi 9T Pro

[Discussion] Annoying proximity sensor issue

Hello to all!

I recently bought a Redmi K20 pro (Xiaomi 9T pro) and updated it to the latest MiUi version (11 stable). There is an annoying problem with my proximity sensor which I think happened to quite some users (I searched the web a lot). After a while of using the phone and specially after taking it out of pocket the phone says: "Don't cover the earphone area, to turn off this feature press volume up".

By the way when I restart the phone this problem goes away for a while. These options are the ones I already tried and didn't get any results:

  • turning off "pocket mode" in settings
  • using CIT tool to see if the proximity sensor works which it does after restarting the phone (showing 0.0 when covering the top of the phone and showing 5.0 after removing my hand) and does not work when the problem start to occur (it always show 0.0 value)
  • using CIT tool to calibrate the proximity sensor
  • removing the protective glass which did not cover the proximity sensor anyway
  • cleaning the area with a micro fiber cloth.

This problem is really annoying because I can't even hang up the calls because the screen is black (it thinks I'm still holding the phone)

Thanks for your replies in advance

I have exactly the same problem with my Xiaomi 9T MIUI Version 11.0.4.0 Stable.
After reboot the Sensor is working again.
