There is no shortage of interesting announcements coming out of IFA 2019, with many key names in the mobile space cluing us in on their upcoming product line-ups. Qualcomm is making some important connectivity announcements of its own, shortly after its Samsung’s latest 5G-capable chipset reveal. The company has revealed that it will bring 5G to multiple tiers of Snapdragon chipsets, expanding 5G connectivity beyond their flagship 8-Series platform. On top of that, Qualcomm has now given a name to their “system-level” approach to 5G connectivity, while also announcing the first fully integrated, extended-range mmWave solution for 5G fixed wireless access.

Huawei has unveiled the Kirin 990 5G – its latest high-end chipset, and of course its response to Apple’s A-series, as well as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors. The announcement comes just ahead of the unveiling of the Huawei Mate 30 series which in any case would be the first smartphone series to come embedded with the SoC.
The Kirin 990 5G is manufactured using the 7nm EUV manufacturing process which is an updated version of the 7 nm manufacturing process employed for last year’s Kirin 980. The GPU and NPU have both been upgraded for improved performance in relation to the Kirin 980.

Android 10 is here! Google has officially introduced its next generation mobile operating system - Android 10. This new OS is built for foldable smartphones too. Android 10 is loaded with features that are aimed at helping users keep their data safe and increase the ease of using Android smartphones.
One of biggest and most anticipated features of Android 10 is the dark mode, which can either be enabled for specific app such as Google Photos and Calendar or can be implemented on a system-wide basis.

In short, USB4 promises to make all those cable connections faster, more useful and easier to use. And if all goes to plan, it should start making it safer for device makers to stop offering devices, chargers and other devices that use old-style rectangular USB-A or the smaller USB Micro B ports. That should help spread new USB into more chargers, laptops, airplane seat backs, power strips, cars and electronic devices.

Just a little over a week after announcing the Amazfit GTS and Amazfit Sports Watch 3 in its home country of China, Huami as unveiled both watches in Germany at the ongoing IFA 2019 trade show. This might as well be the fastest international launch for any Amazfit product. The Amazfit GTS is priced at €130 and packs a number of interesting features. It has a 1.65-inch rectangular Super Retina-grade AMOLED display with 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3 protection. You get up to a 100 different watch faces too.
