[Discussion] Google photos messing about after update

Not sure if anyone else is having this issue. I open a photo in Google photos and after a second or so it applies a really saturated dark filter. Why of why??

Anyone else?
Fix?

yep, I am testing it the now. seems to be the os update and a photos update which has broken contrast control on this app, not sure why.
you can try two things, go to settings > installed apps > find photos and chose uninstall update
that seems to work (suggesting it's the photos app at fault which it could be playing a part but I think it's the contrast control, almost like the new photos app is setting the contrast levels wrong) but all reports are from Xiaomi devices primarily and usually Mi 9 handsets and just after the os update so I think it might have something to do with the DC dimming option that appeared in the settings etc, they have tweeted alot.
so you could also try going to settings > display > colours and contrast > and switching from automatic to standard.
now try it?
I think it's a combination of the new os update and photos update which somewhere they aren't feeding/reading the contrast setting right

There is a forum for this on the Google photos page as well hence why I know it's mostly Xiaomi and mi 9s reporting this just now

good read thanks for that, hopefully Google and Xiaomi can work it out so the colour calibration for what we use on most phones "automatic" marry up on between the app and phone, luckily Xiaomi and Google seem to have a good relationship so shouldn't be too hard for them to get this fixed in the coming month 👍
