So on android pie beta, xiaomi seemed to have had temporarily removed the hide notch option. There are many users who'd like to hide the notch so here's one of the way you guys can do it.

You'd need to download the app called

Nacho Notch — Notch Hider   :   https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xda.nachonotch&hl=en

This is what it'll look like after configuring the app

Once you download the app, open it and follow the instructions there.

Turn on Enable Rounded Corners on Top

Slide down a little and increase top corner width & top corner height. 34/34 and 35/35 will look balanced with the bottom notch

Next, slide down you notification panel and add the Show Notch tile. Turn it on to show notch, turn it off to disable it back.

Lastly , open your recents apps and Lock the app from being closed when you clear your apps. This will ensure the notch is always there. You can also enable auto start for the app but i find it unnecessary.

Hope this mini tutorial will come in handy for those who really want the notch. I personally don't mind having the notch and i'm sure when Pie goes stable , the option would definitely come back.

Thanks.

I like your efforts and research, but feel sad such contributing members are not part of beta team but some random folks. ?

I can't add the Hide Notch tile (not Show Notch). It's between the last tiles, down side, and when I try to move it to notification panel, it disappear during the moving!?
