[Feature Request] DT2W - Double-tap to wake

This one's self-explanatory...we've all seen double-tap to wake, right?
The thing is, unless you want to use a third-party app that will force a wakelock (keep CPU running even with screen off, leeching up your battery) to detect taps, this requires kernel support. And the kernel sources haven't been released by Xiaomi, so we can't build our own kernels either (except buggy ones). So I really wish the devs add this feature...pretty please?? {:4_125:}

What do you guys and gals think??

It is actually not a really good idea to have double tap to wake on Xiaomi Devices as the screen is not OLED. In OLED devices, the display is able to control individual LEDs to light up or turn off, thus their display projects black by turning off the display so having double tap to wake is not too battery consuming. However in Xiaomi devices the use of IPS LCD inhibits the use of double tap to wake as the screen is not turned off when projecting black colours, thus it will be highly battery consuming to have it.

Double tap feature is not linked with LCD type.
No matter OLED or IPS, cuz touchscreen is a separate device managed by independed controller.

What I meant was having double tap to wake on a LCD screen will be extremely bad for battery life as it can't be switched off, unlike OLED displays where black is projected by switching off the LEDs.

No again, power supplying for LCD and Touch Digitizer are also separate. Backlight and screen (IPS or OLED, no matter) can be physically switched off while touchscreen is physically switched on and waiting for taps.

Well, I was just saying something I saw from some other website. So just ignore me as I am wrong.

WWW is so WWW :) the only thing where u r right - power consuption will be increased cuz digitizer will be always switched on. Same as with "prevent pocket dials" feature when proximity is always switched on.Just as yet another proof - Double tap wake was first appeared on LG G2 with IPS display :)
