A report from Strategy Analytics has the Redmi 5A as the only Android smartphone in the top five in their released results for individual smartphone shipments this past Q1 2018. This turns out that Xiaomi’s budget offering Redmi 5A which by the way is dub as the Entry level smartphone king is now the best selling Android smartphone in that particular period. Despite having a ton of competition in its price segment, Xiaomi still managed to ship around 5.4 million units of the budget device. At Number 6, the next Android smartphone following behind it is Samsung’s Galaxy S9 Plus which managed to ship around 5.3 million units worldwide despite its high price tag.

The Redmi 5A which is an entry-level smartphone was launched in China last October, brought to India in November and was introduced in the Philippines on September as Xiaomi enters the Philippine Market.
Linda Sui, Director at Strategy Analytics has said that "Xiaomi has become wildly popular across India and China," and revealed that "Xiaomi is selling a huge volume of smartphones through online channels, with key retail partners including Flipkart and JD."
Of course Apple still rule over the Top with its Apple Iphone X in the frontline. Rounding up the rest of the total market, other manufacturers made up 84.6 percent of the 345.4 million market, shipping 292.3 units over the quarter. It is also reported that global smartphone shipments fell year-on-year, from 353.8 million units the previous year.
