On November 2, Xiaomi launched its all-new series in India- The Redmi Y1 and Y1 Lite. Its Xiaomi's maiden selfie-focused camera with a front camera of 16MP Resolution. Xiaomi Redmi Y1 is powered by 1.4GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor and it comes with 3GB of RAM. The phone packs 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. Coming to the camera side, the device has a 13MP rear camera and 16MP front-facing selfie camera. Both cameras are equipped with a decent flashlight also. It is powered by a 3080mAh non-removable battery. It runs on MIUI9 based on Android Nougat 7.0. Redmi Y1 is a dual SIM smartphone that accepts Nano-SIM and Nano-SIM. Unlike other Redmi devices, Y1 has a sim tray capable of 2 SIM's + 1SD Card. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, Infrared, USB OTG, FM, 3G, and 4G. It’s an all plastic build, with a metallic finish. There’s nothing we’ve not seen before, but it is built nicely with a smooth finish at the back that feels great in the hand.
The 5.5 inch IPS display runs at HD resolution
The display is quite bright, with crisp details and colors. It performs well while watching videos or playing games.
On top, the receiver speaker, proximity sensor, notification LED and the front camera which is a 16-megapixel shooter for selfies and video calls are placed along with a LED Selfie Flash.
The rear panel is smooth and it curves around the edges before meeting the front panel. The Y1's edges give the phone a premium feel and it has a fingerprint sensor located at the back.

The fingerprint sensor which is positioned on the back side is accurate with quick response time, and you can add up to 5 fingerprints. It allows you to unlock the device, though you need to use the power button on the right side to lock it.
On the right, we have the power button and volume rockers.
On the left, we have dual SIM + dedicated SD card tray.
Speaker grill, microphone, and micro USB port are located at the bottom.
On top, we have IR blaster for controlling your appliances, a noise cancellation microphone, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Redmi Y1 running on MIUI9 based on Android Nougat.
