Xiaomi has launched the selfie king device named Redmi Y1 along with MIUI 9 one week before. So how well does it stand against the battery king Redmi 4? Let's find it out in this thread.
Body & Display
Redmi Y1 comes with 13.9 cm (5.5 inches) HD IPS LCD Display with 2.5D front curved glass and provides 450 nits brightness, whereas Redmi 4 comes with 12.7 (5 inches) HD Display with 2.5D front curved glass. Redmi Y1 is 3 grams heavier than Redmi 4 with a weight of 153 g. Redmi Y1 is also slightly slimmer than Redmi 4.
So who is the winner here? Redmi Y1 or Redmi 4. The Redmi Y1 is for users who want a large device with an affordable budget, whereas Redmi 4 is for users who want a smaller device. Personally, I like the Redmi Y1, because it's having a large screen. But in the end, it's up to the users to decide which phone suits them most.
Processor & Memory
Redmi Y1 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 Octa-core processor with 8 cores running at 1.4 GHz and has Adreno 505 GPU. It has 3 & 4 GB RAM variants with 32GB & 64GB internal storage respectively. After a while, Xiaomi has introduced 2+1 Hybrid sim tray where 2 Nano sim card and a memory card can be added together and memory card supports up to 128GB too.
Redmi 4, on the other hand, has the same processor that's used in the Redmi Y1 and comes with 2, 3 and 4GB RAM variants with 16,32 and 64GB internal storage respectively. The Redmi 4 uses Hybrid sim slot, where you can either use a single sim with memory card or use dual sim cards without a memory card. Similar to the Redmi Y1, Redmi 4 also supports 128 GB expandable storage.
So who is the winner here? Redmi Y1 or Redmi 4: In this case, I guess the winner is Redmi Y1, cause it gives Dedicated MicroSD card slot, which is absent in Redmi 4.
The Y1 offers a 3080 mAh Non-removable Li-ion battery which gives a talk time of 32 hours/ video playback of 10 hours/ gaming of 12 hours/ navigation of 15 hours/ audio playback of 75 hours/ reading time of 21 hours/ and finally a standby of 10 days with its 3080 mAh battery.
Whereas the Redmi 4 offers a 4100 mAh Non-removable Li-Po battery which gives a talk time of 36 hours/ video playback of 15 hours/ gaming of 13 hours/ navigation of 15 hours/ audio playback of 87 hours/ reading time of 26 hours and finally a standby of 18 days with its humongous battery.
Here I can say the winner is Redmi 4 cause it offers bigger battery than Redmi Y1. Fear not, the Redmi Y1 battery is designed in such a way that it will give a full day battery juice for your daily use.
Since the Redmi Y1 is a selfie-centric device, the selfie camera is, of course, the main attraction here. So for this comparison, we are discussing the details of the front camera first. The Redmi Y1 offers 16 MP selfie light camera with f/2.0 large aperture and offers 76.4-degree wide angle lens, led selfie light with beautify feature having 36 smart beauty profiles, face recognition and offers real-time beautify in video calls for the selfie lovers.
The back camera is a 13MP f/2.2 aperture having Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) technology and offers low light enhancement, panorama, HDR, burst mode, face recognition and real-time filters. It also offers 1080p recording @30 fps

On the other hand, the Redmi 4 is not a selfie-centric device. It features the normal front camera. The front camera of the Redmi 4 offers a 5MP camera with a f/2.2 aperture with countdown timer and limited beautify features.

and the back camera offers 13 MP Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) technology with 0.1s Ultra fast focusing 5 element lens and f/2.0 aperture and offers HDR, panorama, burst mode, face recognition real-time filters. It also offers 1080p video recording @30 fps.
For selfie lovers, Y1 is definitely your choice. and for those who take shots using back camera, Redmi 4 is the best choice for them. So here we cant select a clear winner. But in this price range of budget segment, it gives Redmi Y1 better choice than the Redmi 4.
