Hei Mi fans,
Wassup and what's I have in bag for you? Google Maps had just rolled out a new feature called Live View. Google Maps’ Live View uses augmented reality (AR) to display virtual signposts and directions in the real world making it easier for you to around wherever you are without getting lost or stopping people around you for directions. Useful right?
To begin have Google Play Services for AR installed.
Of course, to use Live View you need a device which is ARCore compatible. I will be using Mi 9 to walk, you all, through the tutorial. For a first timer, you need to allow permission for Live View to access your camera to function.
Let's start walking!
On your phone, launch the Google Maps app.
For better results, point your phone camera at buildings and signs across the street instead of trees and people.
Once Maps knows where you are, you’ll see directions through the camera view on your screen.
Your phone will vibrate upon reaching the next navigation step or destination.
Live View which still in beta form, is useful in those crucial moments when GPS and compass is not available. The new feature has been very promising, as according to Google they will continue to improve the product.
