Mediatek never releases source codes of its processors, so don't dream of any Android updates.
Moreover, Helio G90 has 12 nm manufacture process, while Snapdragon 675 has 11 nm, not saying of higher Snapdragon processors. So, don't dream of power efficiency and low temperature

Not sure how far MediaTek is with their chipset. I know they were going for 5G chips and were looking into 4nm process but they've never really come up with a flagship level chip so far. Still as MediaTek develops it definitely fits better for Redmi devices than the budget Qualcomm chips. I'm still waiting for our flagship Mi Phones to adopt the Kirin chips already! MIX 3 was great in every way but Honor Magic 2 still outpaced it thanks to the Kirin 980 over MIX 3's Snapdragon 845.
