[News] Xiaomi shows MIUI 10 on Android Q

During the night of yesterday, Zhang Guoquan, current director of the software, systems and telephony department of Xiaomi, published several screenshots of MIUI 10 based on the latest version of the Google system, Android Q.

Specifically, these new captures come under the Xiaomi Mi 9 model, one of the first Xiaomi devices that will enjoy Android Q together with the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G and the newly launched for sale in China and soon in India, Redmi K20 Pro. In addition, it is expected that the POCO Team will end up bringing this new version of Android to its successful POCOPHONE F1 in a relatively short period of time.

Although Xiaomi's famous customization layer is based on a totally different operating system, its interface style is very similar to what we can already see in the latest updates of MIUI 10 based on Android P. This detail makes us think that the great aesthetic changes will come under the next big update of this complete layer of personalization, whose name and slogan is none other than MIUI 11: A new and unique operating system.

Recall that Google announced in one of its recent conferences, Android Q will focus on improving the features related to user privacy. Specifically, this new operating system will allow us to choose at any time if the application makes use of the location in the background or even informing immediately if it makes use of the user's location, the microphone or camera, showing us this way in a new icon in the notification bar.

Recall that Google announced in one of its recent conferences, Android Q will focus on improving the features related to user privacy. In addition, among the main features and innovations of Android Q we find:

  • Dark mode in the whole system.
  • Control by intensity of pressure on the screen. (It allows detecting the intensity with which the user presses the screen of the device).
  • Share the password of a WiFi network to which the device is connected by QR code.
  • Two modes of performance. (High Performance will prioritize speed and Low Latency will prioritize a lower ideal latency for video games, and also for calls or video calls).
  • Selection of colors in the theme.
  • Native support for 3D facial recognition.
  • Improved permission management
  • Desktop mode (It will allow the content of the smartphone screen to be replicated on an external monitor through its own interface).
  • Google incorporates Pixel Themes. (An application that allows the personalization of the appearance of the icons of the system).
  • Screen recording natively.
  • Support for WiFi 6 and WPA3.
  • New access permissions on background photos, video and audio files.
  • Background applications can no longer jump to the foreground.
  • Improve privacy: limit access to non-restartable device identifiers.
  • Share shortcuts, which allow you to share content with a contact directly.
  • Floating configuration panel, which allows you to change the system configuration directly from the applications.
  • Dynamic depth format for photos, which allows you to change the background blur after taking a photo.
  • Support for TLS 1.3 that offers greater security and loads secure websites up to 40% faster.
  • Compatibility with the AV1 video codec, the HDR10 + video format and the Opus audio codec.
  • Native MIDI API, which allows interaction with music controllers.
  • Folding smart phone designs for applications and for Android itself.
  • Improvements in the security and privacy of the device.
