same problem with me my device redmi 6

Sadly all MIUI phones with Android Pie suffer from it, I checked the forums back in the beginning.

Did you test it? I didn't receive the update yet.

Is MIUI 10.3.2 still not compatible with exFat?
Clearly Android 9 incompatibility, right? What a shame.

It is compatible, I'm using exFAT and it reads/writes properly. For some reason writing became slow when there are too many files in the destination. I intended to write more about my findings later today. Advance: the SD card can't be seen from the second space any longer and it seems to be by design.

I haven't checked this topic in a while, but today I noticed that it's getting weirder: local backups as after the Pie upgrade aren't being saved in the SD card. They're being saved in the internal storage, making them pointless in case you need to restore your phones data. This is upsetting me now, resiliency issues are something I can't tolerate :-/ I couldn't find any setting to force the destination.

OMG, after upgrading to PIE, this happened to me and its infuriating as my backups are eating into my internal storage space.
