Can someone tell me how to transfer my music and video files from my Redmi3S to the microSD card and laptop as the memory in my 3S is reaching saturation point.

Thank you.

Thanks for your reply but my laptop did not detect the redmi 3S when I used the cable. Is there some software from Xiaomi which I need to install?

If you want to use laptop you have to use 2 ways,

1) install the drivers
2) Explorer app via FTP

You swipe down from the top, do you see this?

Tap on it and select MTP

Thank you to everyone who replied and offered solutions. I finally managed to unlock my mobile phone and transfer my videos and photos to my laptop.

I hope that Xiaomi will do an app similar to that of ASUS which has a File Manager app. It made things very simple to transfer from the mobile storage to the microSD card.

Thank you again and hope you all have a good weekend. :)

All Mi phone have an app call Explorer app which you can use it to do transfer between phone ROM to microSD. Else like what I mentioned use FTP which is always alot easier than require you to install driver.

So what exactly did you do to get your stuff off the phone and into your PC?

I did what was recommended. From the phone to the laptop using the USB for charging other option and then clicking on MTP for video transfer BUT I wanted to transfer directly to the onboard microSD card, instead of the laptop. After I had transferred to the laptop, I took the microSD card, inserted it to my laptop and did the transfer. It is inefficient as it is a 2 stage process. I could not do it via Explorer. If you can give me step by step instruction (consider me dumb) I might be able to do it.

Regards

Sorry, I didn't read your question properly the first time. Did not realise that you were asking about 2 things. For the question about moving stuff from phone to SD card, you can use the built in Explorer app to do it, just like how you do it for Windows Explorer. Copy and Paste. I have not used a phone with expandable SD card for very long already, so cannot quite remember. I think there's an option to save directly from camera to SD card. So moving forward, no need to do any copying from phone to SD card. But a word of warning. SD cards are slow compared to built in memory so you will have a performance hit if you do a direct save to SD card. Which is also a reason why I don't use SD cards in phones. I do housekeeping often and get rid of stuff in my phone.
