Xiaomi Mi MIX will be available for the first time outside China. However, the Mi MIX will be initially available only in Vietnam and you can pre-order the phone until March 22 across various retail stores.
Launched in November 2016 with an edgeless design with 18K Gold plated rear camera, the Mi MIX was sold as a China-exclusive device. With the sale of the phone in Vietnam, the smartphone will no longer exclusive to China. The attraction of the handset is the addition of an end-to-end display with a unique design exclusive crafted by Philippe Starck.
As a first step towards the launch of the Mi Mix phone, Xiaomi inked a strategic partnership with distributor Digiworld Corporation at an event held in Ho Chi Minh City. Digiworld will be responsible for selling smartphones and accessories in Vietnam for the first time since the inception of the Chinese smartphone manufacturer. In addition to Mi MIX, Xiaomi will also sell Redmi Note 4, Redmi 4A and a wide range of Mi Power Banks.
On the specifications front, the Xiaomi Mi MIX features a 6.4-inch edgeless ceramic design with a screen-to-body ratio of 91.3 percent. The display offers a resolution of 2040x1080 resolution.
Under the hood, the Mi Mix is equipped with a Snapdragon 821 processor, Adreno 530 graphics, 4GB/6GB RAM, 128GB/256GB internal storage powered by a 4400mAh fast charging battery.
While the rear camera offers a 16MP sensor, the front-facing shooter bears a 5MP sensor. If you look at the rear camera, you will find 18K gold rim around it, which is not available with any other handset.
Loaded with MIUI 8, the Mi MIX ships with a wide range of sensors and connectivity features including Beidou and NFC. In Xiaomi Mi MIX, the front camera is embedded on the bottom. Hence, you need to flip the phone upside down to capture selfies. The phone ships with a piezoelectric speaker, which mainly works by generating sound via vibration.
As of writing this, we don't have any information about when Xiaomi will launch Mi MIX outside China and Vietnam. There is no indication about the availability of the phone in the US and India.
