Hello Mi Fans,
On the 17th July 2018, Xiaomi had started their direct business and launched Redmi S2 as the first official Xiaomi smartphone in Bangladesh. With an honest price, Redmi S2 has a superb specification. Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset, Octa-core 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 processor, Adreno 506 GPU, 5.99-inch Full-screen 18:9 aspect ratio display, 3/4GB RAM and 32/64GB internal storage respectively, 12MP + 5MP AI-powered dual camera, 16MP AI-powered front camera with a LED selfie light, 2 SIM card slots + 1 micro SD card slot, 3080 mAh battery and Android 8.1 Oreo. The unique antenna lines at the top and bottom of the device make it look amazing. The device sporting nicely rounded edges and a good contrast between the screen and the frame. Xiaomi has also thrown in a transparent rubber case for some extra protection.
Full Screen Gesture:
Redmi S2 has the new MIUI full screen gesture feature. Full Screen gesture removes the traditional Android commands of Back, Home and Recent, and replace them with gestures. To go to your homescreen, you swipe up from the bottom, while 'Back' is executed by swiping from either side of the screen. To view your recent active apps you swipe up and hold your finger on the display. These gestures are optional, but I think they work really well and once you're used to them, it's hard to go back to the old on-screen buttons.
Front Selfie Camera:
The AI(Artificial Intelligence) technology lifted the 16MP single camera to a different level. It detects face or subject and blurs the background to create a bokeh effect. A portrait icon appears on the top of the screen when runs the front camera. The front-facing camera has its own LED flash to prevent noise on low light selfies.
Dual Rear Camera:
It houses a 12-megapixel Sony-made snapper with a 5-megapixel secondary camera that allows it to perform convincing 'Portrait' style photos with bokeh effects. Nestled in the middle of these two cameras is a single LED flash. Given the cost of the phone, it's hard to be disappointed by the quality of the shots. With HDR deployed, the Redmi S2 is capable of taking some striking photos and the bokeh mode works really well.
The Redmi S2 is equipped with a 3080mAh battery but its performance had surprised me. After a full charge, I had used the phone for 2 days with 6 hours screen on time. 8 or 9 social apps were always running and I had also played Asphalt 9 Legends for more than half an hour. So the battery is enough to provide a full day backup with heavy usage.
Redmi S2 is actually a camera KING phone but it's chipset and battery combinedly raised it to the top of the mid-budget phone. As we know Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 is one of the most optimized chipsets available in the market. I had played both PUBG and Asphalt 9 Legends without a single hang or lag. Also, the advantage of using 2 nano-SIM cards along with a microSD is great. The overall performance was really impressive.
If we consider the budget, Redmi S2 is unbeatable. Only 15000 BDT for 3/32GB and 18000 BDT for 4/64GB is really an honest price. So what's your opinion about this phone?
What are your impressions about Redmi S2?
