It has happened to me and i beleive it has happened with some of you also : accidentally dropping a smartphone in water and then frantically trying anything and everything to recover it.
Dropping your Smartphone in the water is what your worst nightmares are made of! For a split second, you see your world falling apart as you feel all your files and photos going down the drain (tee-hee).
However, There are some tips to save the day!
Here are 6 things to do as soon as you drop your Smartphone in the water
1 Grab it ASAP!
As soon as your cellphone takes a dive, reach down for it quickly and pull it out of the water. The longer it soaks the worse the damage. If you retrieve it instantly, it might still be fine if it’s your lucky day.
2 Shake it off
Gently shake the phone to get rid of any water present in the headphone jack, charging port or under the physical buttons.
23Turn it OFF.
If your phone is still on after you pull it out of the water, turn it off as quickly as possible. If there’s still electricity running around the circuit board, the water will ruin it forever.
4 Take it to parts.
After switching off the phone, start removing everything possible from the phone. Remove the battery, sim cards, memory cards as well as any accessory (stylus, case, cover, skin) if you are using non - Removable battety smartphone just remove other parts and switch off the device .
5 Don’t use a blow-dryer.
Just like water, the heat from the blow-dryer will damage your phone’s internal components irreversibly.
6 Use Rice and Silica.
Drying your phone from the outside isn’t enough. Fill a bowl with rice (definitely uncooked!) and bury your cellphone deep in it. The dry rice will absorb the water trapped inside of your phone and will completely dry it. This works just as well with Silica packets (the little packets found in shoe boxes). If you have enough, fill a bowl and leave your phone. Both rice and Silica will need up to 3 days to soak up all the moisture from inside your phone.
Please keep in mind that there is no guarantee that your phone will survive a dunking in water. There is only a 50% chance of your phone working again.
Cheers and enjoy.
