Mi A1

[Other] Is there a way to reflash Mi A1 firmware from Stock Android to MIUI?

We are so used to the MIUI that going over to Stock Android will miss a lot of usefull features especially the right to setup the security permissions that we like, so that only certian apps are allowed to run when we need them and turned off when we don't. The next thing is the Xiaomi skins and themes are much better because there are so much more to choose from.
So, why did we get the Mi A1? Altogether we got 3 units of Mi Max 2 for our family re-contract this time time round with others using iPhones, but my daughter think that the Mi Max2 is way too big for her to carry around, so we traded one unit for a Mi A1 which has the same built and look but in a smaller package, but found out that it uses a Stock Android instead of MIUI.

Help needed for the instructions and official download location to do it.

Hi. As Mi A1 uses the A/B partition setup, similar to the Google Pixel, for the operating system, running MIUI on it would not be possible. You would need to flash a custom recovery first which is not available at this point in time, and even then, if even possible, you might not receive official MIUI updates. Therefore it is near impossible to reflash.

You might want to sell off the Mi A1 and consider getting a Mi 5X instead, which is essentially the same phone as the Mi A1, but runs MIUI out of the box and is officially supported. However, you will have to import it from China as it is not being sold here, and Google Play services will have to be sideloaded then.

Hope it helps. You can consider other phones such as the Redmi Note 4 which runs MIUI and uses a similar Snapdragon 625 processor.

Thanks for the information!
Well, I think she will have to make do with this phone then. Nicely design and built phone just that not used to the Stock Android.
