Hi Mi fans!
WhatsApp has recently launched a new ‘Live Location’ feature. The Live Location feature allows you to share your real-time location for a specific amount of time. You also get an option to control who you share your location with, be it the group chat or with just one contact or moreover an individual chat.
The main objective for the introduction of this feature by Facebook-owned messaging platform was to let people know that their friends and family members are safe and secure.
The messenger had location sharing for quite some time, but the live location was something which was missing, considering the fact that other apps like Telegram already had it.
Anyways, enough of introduction about the feature; let’s move on to how to get it work on your device:
Note: Before moving further, make sure you have the latest version of WhatsApp installed onto your device. If you haven’t updated it yet – head over to play store, search for WhatsApp and click on update. Also, you need to turn on Location and give WhatsApp location permission in your phone's settings before using this feature.
(In case more than one person shares their real-time Location in the group, all the locations will be seen on the same map)
And Voilà, your live location will be shared with the respective chat!
To stop sharing your live location:
Open WhatsApp and tap Menu Button > Settings > Account > Privacy > Live location> Tap Stop sharing
Remember, once stopped or expired; your live location will no longer be shared. However, participants in the chat who you shared your live location with will continue to see the initial live location you shared. This will appear as a static greyed-out image within the chat.
Concluding, I personally really like this new feature. It can do wonders in case of an emergency and help anyone out. What do you guys think about this neat feature implemented by WhatsApp? Have you used it yet? Do let us know in the comments section below.
