The iPhone X will come in two different storage variants – 64GB, 256GB – with prices starting at Rs 89,000 and pre-orders starting on October 27. While the prices might come as a shock, it was being expected since before. In fact, we even did a post about it.
The iPhone X has a 5.8-inch OLED Super Retina display with a resolution of 1125×2436. It supports HDR10 and Dolby Vision formats as well. The iPhone X’s Super Retina display has very small 4mm bezels flanking the display on the right and the left. You can just tap on the screen to wake it. Swipe up from the bottom to unlock it. You can make swipe up gestures within an app too, to minimise the app. Or, swipe up and hold for multitasking. The Power switch (Side Button) is now used to activate Siri.
TouchID has now been replaced by Face ID, a face unlock system that uses an infrared sensor, a flood illuminator, a dot projector, the front camera, proximity sensor, and a lot of other tech to identify your face. It uses neural networks to create Face ID. The A11 Bionic chip is built-in with a neural engine. The Face ID actually learns your face and remembers it using neural network even if you change your hairstyle, or wear glasses.
It also captures great videos thanks to an Apple-designed video encoder. You can shoot videos at 4K resolution and at 60fps. You can also shoot 1080p videos at 240fps. Also, the AR-kit software is directly linked to the camera hardware and it does tracking accordingly.
It supports wireless charging using the Qi wireless charging standard. The phone will also support Bluetooth 5.0. It is water and dust resistant. The battery life has been improved to give two more hours of battery life than the iPhone 7.
