Hello, Mi Fans!
With MIUI we always think about how little changes can make your user experience better and following that direction we are bringing some minor but important changes in the MIUI status bar, we would like you to notice them in order to have a clear understanding of the new setup,

1. Below Android 6.0
Users will be able to change the color of the status bar only, not the text color shown in the status bar and so we made our own interface in MIUI to change the color of the text to black.

2. Android 6.0 & Up
Android has a way for users to give the ability to customize both the color and text color of the status bar. Although there seems to be a conflict between MIUI and Android approach and so caused trouble to overseas developers with the adjustments.

MIUI Status Bar Changes
Because of the problem stated above, we have decided to use Android's API and dropping our own MIUI interface. The change will take effect from 7.7.13 Global developer ROM and onwards, it has been already implemented in closed beta ROM and will be followed by the stable version too. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Some affected applications are UC, instant, curiosity and other applications (mostly Chinese apps). We'll inform app developers regarding this minor adjustment soon, please be patient.

1. In the new MIUI version (based on Android 6.0, developer ROM 7.7.13 and later):
- Use View.SYSTEM_UI_FLAG_LIGHT_STATUS_BAR To set the" status bar black character "effect
- Set WindowManager.LayoutParams.FLAG_DRAWS_SYSTEM_BAR_BACKGROUNDS,
- and no WindowManager.LayoutParams.FLAG_TRANSLUCENT_STATUS

Reference:
    Window window = getWindow();
    window.addFlags(WindowManager.LayoutParams.FLAG_DRAWS_SYSTEM_BAR_BACKGROUNDS);
    window.clearFlags(WindowManager.LayoutParams.FLAG_TRANSLUCENT_STATUS);
    window.getDecorView().setSystemUiVisibility(View.SYSTEM_UI_FLAG_LIGHT_STATUS_BAR);

2. In older version of MIUI
    Window window = getWindow();
    window.addExtraFlags(MiuiWindowManager.LayoutParams.EXTRA_FLAG_STATUS_BAR_DARK_MODE);

That's it for now folks! Do leave your thoughts in the comment section below.
