Today i am here to explaining about difference between Wifi & Lifi because at this time most of the peoples are using smartphone and without internet smartphone is just use for " Text and Calling"only. Most of the users using cellular data to access the internet and now a days its become more popular after launching 4G but due to lightning ing fast speed and unlimited data users preferred Wifi in their Home and Offices. We must say Lifi is a upper class technology of Wifi because Lifi is a high-speed wireless communication technology which gives 224 gigabits data transmission per second. Without wasting time let’s get started and concentrate your mind to read this interesting thread.

What Does WiFi Stands For ?
You may be surprised to hear that many people don't actually know that wifi is an abbreviated term. Even those who do don't always know what WiFi stands for.There are a number of theories about what the term means, but the most widely accepted definition for the term in the tech community is Wireless Fidelity.

What is Wifi ?
WiFi is a technology that uses radio waves to provide network connectivity. A WiFi connection is established using a wireless adapter to create hotspots  areas in the vicinity of a wireless router that are connected to the network and allow users to access internet services. Once configured, WiFi provides wireless connectivity to your devices by emitting frequencies between 2.4GHz - 5GHz, based on the amount of data on the network.

How WiFi Works ?
Like mobile phones, a WiFi network makes use of radio waves to transmit information across a network. The computer should include a wireless adapter that will translate data sent into a radio signal. This same signal will be transmitted, via an antenna, to a decoder known as the router. Once decoded, the data will be sent to theInternet through a wired Ethernet connection. As the wireless network works as a two-way traffic, the data received from the internet will also pass through the router to be coded into a radio signal that will be received by the computer's wireless adapter.

WiFi Frequencies.
A wireless network will transmit at a frequency level of 2.4 GHz or 5GHz to adapt to the amount of datathat is being sent by the user. The 802.11 networking standards will some what vary depending mostly on the user's needs. The 802.11a will transmit data at a frequency level of 5GHz. The Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (OFDM) used enhances reception by dividing the radio signals into smaller signals before reaching the router. You can transmit a maximum of 54 megabits of data per second.

Disadvantages of Wifi.
To combat this consideration, wireless networks may choose to utilize some of the various encryption technologies available. Some of the more commonly utilized encryption methods, however, are known to have weaknesses that a dedicated adversary can compromise. The typical range of a common 802.11g network with standard equipment is on the order often of meters. While sufficient for atypical home, it will be insufficient in a larger structure. To obtain additional range, repeaters or additional access points will have to be purchased. Costs for these items can add up quickly. Like any radio frequency transmission, wireless networking signals are subject to a wide variety of interference, as well as complex propagation effects that are beyond the control of the network administrator. The speed on most wireless networks (typically 1-54 Mbps) is far slower than even the slowest common wired networks (100Mbps up to several Gbps). However, in specialized environments, the throughput of a wired network might be necessary.

What Does LiFi Stands For ?
LIFI stands for “Light Fidelity”. LiFi is a wireless optical networking technology that uses light-emitting diodes (LEDs) for data transmission. LiFi is designed to use LED light bulbs similar to those currently in use in many energy-conscious homes and offices.

What is LiFi?
LiFiis a high-speed wireless communication technology that uses visible light to transmit information. It has some similarities to existing WiFi technology, as well as some huge differences. WiFi and LiFi are similar because both technologies are wireless, but also very different, because unlike WiFi, which relies on radio waves, LiFi uses visible light communication (VLC) or infrared and near-UV spectrum waves. In other words, LiFi works by using visible light, like the light that is emitted by any regular lamp or bulb!

How LiFi Works ?
When a constant current is applied to an LED (LED lamps are commonly found in households and offices nowadays), tiny packets of energy (called photons) are released, which we perceive as visible light. If the input current to the LED is varied slightly, the intensity of the light output also varies. However, the good thing is that such small variations in the intensity of light is imperceptible by human eyes. Since LEDs are semiconductor devices, the current and the optical output (the light produced by LEDs) can be modulated at very high speeds, which is then detected by a photo detector device that converts it back to electric current. In this way, LiFi technology uses light fromLED lights to transmit data and provide much faster Internet connectivity.

LiFi Frequencies.
The visible light spectrum is almost 10,000 times larger than the spectrum occupied by radio waves. Also, LiFi is said to increase bandwidth by 100 times what we have today with WiFi. This incredible feat is only possible because a LiFi connection can transmit data at the rate of 224 gigabytes per second! Li-Fi is wireless and uses similar 802.11 protocols; but it uses visible light communication (instead of radio frequency waves), which has much bigger bandwidth. One part of VLC is modeled after communication protocols established by the IEEE 802 workgroup.

Disadvantages of Lifi.
Along with all these benefits, there are also some disadvantages of a LiFi connection. Since it uses visible light to transmit data, LiFi would be rather useless in conditions where there is no light. That means no Internet while lying in your bed at night. If you have a WiFI router installed in one room of your house, you can connect your devices sitting anywhere in the house, but this is not the case with LiFi. Since visible rays cannot pass through walls, you have to be in the immediate vicinity of the source of light to access the Internet on your device, which may not sound particularly convenient to many people.

Lifi is not the replacement of wifi technology. It can be considered as incredible companion of the wifi technology. It operates between 380 nm to 780 nm optical range. LiFi is used to exchange data incredibly rapidly and securely at much lower power level compare to WiFi.
