Xiaomi opens new headquarters in Beijing: here's a sneak peek!
Yesterday, 9th July 2019, Xiaomi has opened its new headquarters in Beijing’s Haidian district. The so-called "Xiaomi Science and Technology Park" is made of 8 buildings spread over 210,000 square meters, allowing the company to have space for all its ecosystem projects. This area will offer the proper space to speed up the development of AI technologies but Xiaomi will keep using its previous 4 Beijing's buildings while some of 20,000+ employees and research projects will move out to the new HQ.
Internet of Things, Cloud technologies and Big Data will be at the core of the development in these new buildings in addition to the classic support services such as technical support, retail, distribution, e-commerce and other important financial activities within the company itself. The total investment made has reached 4.62 billion yuan (including buildings' equipment), and the execution period of the works has been 3 years, with works started on July 22nd, 2015.
Needless to say, the entire interior of the buildings has been decorated in a simple but functional way with great space optimisation in order to reduce waits and improving productivity significantly.
Within the Park itself there is also a store where you can see all the products available in the company, from mobile phones to all the ecosystem products of the Mi Home line and even t-shirts and clothing.
There's a dedicated Mi Home area which features an exhibition surface that emulates (perfectly) an ideal Mi smart-home environment:
And here is a tour of the new Xiaomi's headquarters or, at least, the 'public' side. To conclude this article, I would like to emphasise that the opening party has been captained in its entirety by Lei Jun, CEO of the company, who has presented the new HQ in style!
In addition to this, there have also been activities for the Mi Fans present at the event, such as basketball spins and a roulette with plenty of prizes!
