Mi 9T Comprehensive Review
by mitch002

Everyone is so hyped up after the China release of the super popular Redmi K20 Pro and the Redmi K20 which really took the world by storm and Manu Jain of India also announced the Demon King will launch in India in 6 weeks time via his official twitter account. Now we received the "T" will launch on June 12 Globally by Xiaomi on their official Facebook page but they did not further disclose anything.

Now, we know that the Mi 9T is the exact replica of the Redmi K20 only rebranded as the Mi brand under the wings of the Mi 9 Flagship. This is to make the phone more premium since its a Xiaomi brand and not a Redmi, but could the price be more expensive than the Redmi counterpart? We shall know comes June 12.

Full Unboxing Video Review

The Mi 9T is exactly the same as the one being used by the Redmi K20 and when we interchanged the case provided, it fits seamlessly, which proves that the phone itself is exactly the same, just a rebranding effort by Xiaomi for the global version. Now we see that the screen is a 6.39" Super Amoled and it totally blows my mind away when watching UHD 4K movies. The glass back is curved to the edge which makes holding the phone enjoyable, and both front and back are protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 5 similar to the Redmi Note 7, I wonder if I can smash watermelons with this one, just that it might rock the world of the pop up camera's mechanism. This is a total facelift for the Mi 9 series in my opinion since it took away the notch which is quite undesireable for me.

Display and Audio

We were expecting a lot from the display side as we discovered that its sporting a Samsung AMOLED, tho this is already a norm for Mi Series since the Mi 8. The Full HD display did blew me away with its awesome rendering of photos and videos, and probably one thing that is not good with AMOLED is the burn in problems like those on the Samsung Galaxy Flagship Series that we have heard about. We watched several movies and I can say its pretty crisp and detailed especially playing 4K quality movies. The sound was excellent, especially the louspeaker it was really really loud! Even it is not stereo sounds, but it really blew me away when it said WELCOME TO MOBILE LEGENDS. Bluetooth connectivity of headset is also no problem on this unit upon transfering files from Mi MIX 3, Mi Drop was also seamless. Playing games like PUBG was not a problem tho we cannot access the highest definition, just dont forget to access the Mi Game Turbo Mode inside the security app.

Please watch this under UHS 4K setting as I render the goodness of the display of K20/Mi 9T

Snapdragon 730

One of the few devices that sports the latest 7 Series chipseset from Qualcomm is Mi 9T, the Snapdragon 730 SoC has 8 cores and can run up to 2.2Ghz of computing speed. Now of course powered together with the Adreno 618, and of course a generous serving of 6GB or 8GB of RAM, it will give you the best midrange experience up to date. Not mentioning that it can run even the most graphics hungry games like PUBG and NBA 2K19, not to mention Mobile Legends. We ran several stress test on this unit and we did not see any lags nor any slowdown on the opening of any apps in the Mi 9T, multitasking was a breeze. I can only say that it is almost as good as last year's flagship processor the SD 845.

Antutu rewarded it with a 213,877 which is not bad as compared to last years SD 845 inside the Mi8 scoring around 250k points.

The Mi 9T supports 11 different LTE bands. It's pretty easy to switch to LTE network inside the settings, and it also supports Dual 4G mode as well. You can freely choose which sim you want to use your LTE data, since this is a Dual LTE, Dual standby smartphone. Wireless connectivity via Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac is also smooth and it also supports Wi-Fi Direct. Wireless screen mirroring is also available via the Miracast protocol, tethering data is also working perfectly. Bluetooth 5.0,GPS, and GLONASS are all present, NFC (Near Field Communication) is also present to support Mi Pay, Android Pay and it enables you to send data to a fellow NFC user with just tapping your phones together. Transfering data from older phones using Mi Mover was also a breeze as well. This only have single band GPS unlike the more powerful variant the Redmi K20 Pro it supports Dual Band GPS for better accuracy.

Supported LTE Bands:
LTE FDD: B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B20/B28
LTE TDD: B38/B40
WCDMA: B1/B2/B4/B5/B8

supports MU-MIMO, supports WiFi Direct, WiFi Display
Bluetooth: Bluetooth 5.0 wireless technology, Qualcomm TrueWireless TM Stereo Plus
supports AAC/LDAC/ aptX/aptX-HD/aptX-adaptive

The Mi 9T is have one of the better cameras in the market right now, of course not better than that of the Redmi K20 Pro or soon to be Mi 9T Pro globally. I was impressed by the camera shots that I took, even on low lights its still a performer, even the EIS was not bad and it wasnt really shaky even that I intentionally shake the camera while taking sample videos.

Mi 9T Battery and Benchmark:

The Mi 9T supports the Qualcomm Quick charge 3.0 and up to 18W of speed. We charged the Mi 9T and it took in 9V 2.1 Amperes based on our testing using the supplied charger and cable. We charged the phone from 18% to 100% in just 1 hour and 31 minutes and it was quite good for a 4000mAh capacity phone. We recorded a 14 hour 36 minutes endurance test Mi 9T 6GB/64GB version under the PC Mark battery stress test. If these statistics are true on a normal daily use, then it's really a good sign for the said smartphone, and based on my daily usage for several days, the battery almost last me a day without hitting the charging dock. The SD 730 is known to be more battery efficient than the more powerful SD 855.

The Mi 9T was surely a classy phone that will be debuted Globally on June 12, this is something I honestly look forward to and really think that this will be the ultimate budget range phone for those who crave power at the same time want a battery efficient phone. It has everything on it and compared to the Redmi K20 Pro, this one is not far behind, the only difference with the Redmi flagship are camera, processor, gps, cooling system, and charging speed, oh lets not forget it has Global Rom.

This phone will surely be a performer and expect it to rock the midrange category of smartphones.
