Hello, Mi Fans!

In previous articles we saw 'how to setup your device for the first time' and 'a quick start guide to MIUI & it's features' specially for new Mi users. This week we will discuss one more inbuilt useful feature of MIUI which will ease up the tiresome process of moving to new device from the old one; and that feature is called Mi Mover: meticulously crafted packer and mover of MIUI.

  • Multiple data formats supported: Transfer contacts, messages, photos, music, videos, documents, installed apps, and other data.
  • Easy-to-use: Pair two devices using a QR code and start transferring instantly.
  • Speed: Connection speed up to 6MB/s, even faster than restoring data from cloud backup.
  • No wires, mobile data, or internet required: The new device acts as a Wi-Fi hotspot during the transfer.
  • Security: Your two devices are connected directly so your data won't be exposed to any third party apps or phones.

How to get the app?
  • Mi phone
Mi mover is pre-installed and inbuilt in Mi devices, it can be accessed from settings - additional settings - Mi mover.
  • Non-Mi phone
The standalone separate app can be downloaded for any android device from here.

  • Open Mi mover in both old and new device.
  • In old device click I'm a sender, in new device click I'm a receiver
  • Scan the generated QR Code in sender device
  • Select apps and other data which you like to move & click send
  • Let the process complete & tap finish, that's it!

That's it for now folks! If you have anything to say or have a question regrding this article do let us know in the comments below.

I can't see system app folder while sending?
Depending upon the devices & versions some data type might differ and some apps might not get installed due to compatibility.

Does this include SD card data?
Yes, you can move your data from SD card too.

Do I need both the devices connected to router?
No, you don't need that. Device creates it's own hotspot and other device gets connected to it.

Does the transferred data gets deleted from old device after completition automatically?
No, that you have to perform manually and do check once that everything has been moved successfully.

It works fantastic to move data from non-Mi devices to Mi devices and between Mi devices as well if you are upgrading.
