On Monday, Xiaomi launched the Redmi 4A in India with a price tag of 5,999 INR. The device can be grabbed from March 23rd on Amazon India and Xiaomi’s own store mi.com through flash sale method. This is the second big launch event by Mi India after the Redmi Note 4 event.
The smartphone will be available in Dark gray, Gold and Rose gold. The Rose gold variant will be available from April 6. In terms of specification, the Redmi 4A is powered by Qualcomm snapdragon 425 quad-core chipset with Adreno 308 GPU, It has 5-inch IPS LCD 720p HD display. There is no information on display protection. It has a 13MP rear camera with PDAF (Phase detection auto-focus) technology for faster focusing on the object, a single LED Flash and 5 MP front facing camera. The phone comes with 3120 mAh battery with 4G VoLTE support. The device comes with 2GB/16GB RAM/ROM and has dual hybrid card slot which means either you can use two sim or a single sim and a microSD at a time.
During the launch event, Xioami shared some facts about their India operation. According to Xioami, Mi India has become the number one smartphone brand in the online segment with 30% market share which means one in 3 phones sold online is a Xiaomi phone. Which is 2 times bigger than other competitors.
In 2015 Xioami opened its first manufacturing plant in India in partnership with Foxconn corp. Now Xiaomi has 2 manufacturing plants in India with more than 5,000 employees where nearly 90% workers are women. More than 95% of Mi phones sold in India are Made in India. Xiaomi has phones designed for India for Indian users.
Xiaomi added that Mi users are 2.5 times active on social media and majority of them are young (around 85%). Xiaomi also announced that the successor of hugely popular Redmi 3s/prime will be launching soon in India and they shared the glimpse of the device.
